I'm not dead... just overwhelmed

Twitter prompt: Candle

This one was weird because as soon as I saw the prompt word, the first line was in my head. Bizarre.

A candle burns in misty ire
flickering in indecision.
Swirls of smoke obscure reality.
To burn. To die...

Agony.

Murder

Reposted from my family blog, this was inspired by the 60# of cherries we just canned or cut up and froze. What a week... I wrote this for a laugh. I can hear my kids now. "Mom, YOU'RE TWISTED!" heehee

Sweet, delicate fruit...
Fresh.
Unspoiled.
Plucked from mother's grasp:

mature,
plump,
and ripe.

Now with others,
just the same,
waiting for fate
to deal her hand:

stabbed,
gutted,
boiled
and baked.

Innards coat
unyielding hands
while leftover
crimson drops
litter
the sticky floor.

Turning purple,
then blue,
then black.

Unmerciful,
giggles erupt
from murderers
watching
the gruesome scene.

Not thinking,
thinking nothing of death...

The death,
of a cherry.

Word Association Again

  1. Independence :: Day

  2. Meltdown :: Fed UP!

  3. Vulture :: death, road kill

  4. Hope ::springs eternal

  5. Float ::boat... hey, we're rhyming!

  6. Hole ::dirt, work, sweat

  7. Trespass ::illegal, get shot

  8. Moving :: fast

  9. Extinct :: dead

  10. Alligator :: killer

Hmm... a poem, a poem. Let's see if I can make this into a poem.

Independence!
The people cry.
Independence!
The meltdown is nigh.
Independence!
While death toils near,
Independence!
Hope is held dear.
Independence!
Some think it'll float,
Independence!
Some think it won't.
Independence!
Together they work along.
Independence!
Some crying the govt. is wrong.
Independence!
Some attempt to move fast,
Independence!
To revive the glorious past.
Independence!
That is extinct.
Independence.
Or maybe not.
Who knows?

Will we be the killers.. or the revivals...
of Independence?

Only time will tell.

Love is Blind

I did 3WW awhile back. Maybe it's time to do it again. :)

The words:

Fickle
Sparkle
Wrinkle

Some call him fickle...
but I adore the sparkle
that ends with a wrinkle
around his eyes.

Free Association

Anthony on Beyond the Blog has introduced me to Unconscious Mutterings, where they do this Free Association thing. I loved what Anthony did so I decided to give it a whirl myself - maybe I'll make it a regular thing. You just write the first thing that comes into your mind. Might be good to get that stuff out. :) Anyway, in looking at it, I thought it might be a fun type of prompt. The twitter prompts are on hold until Kayt comes back into town.

  1. Guest :: Pain

  2. Impact :: My life

  3. Unplanned :: Dinner

  4. Tactic :: Manipulation

  5. Delayed :: Planes

  6. Bombastic :: Held within

  7. Comfort :: Hugs, love, reassurance

  8. Trumpet :: High School Band

  9. Joe :: My Novel

  10. Budget :: Cash to spend!

Dear Guest
(Until now, that is what you were)

You say I have impact
to revise your unplanned ways..
though I wonder if any tactic
could change your mind.

And though,
thoughts be delayed
(or perhaps held within),
the comfort of understanding
trumpets your affection
louder than any Joe
with cash to spend!

I choose you.

After the Rain

Storms may rage,
Innards tremble,
And trees bow.
But when sun breaks,
the newness wows.

Faith Shines Triumphant

Another twitter tweet:

Storm brews, lightening shatters, winds howl, a light shines.
Darkness can't hide what faith illuminates.

The storm is pacified - it moves on.
